“Ultimately, it is the desire, not the desired, that we love.” Reminder from Nietzsche that two very different desires are often found in the exact same situation. Your ability to evaluate them is key!

One of a Talent Manager / Coach's greatest and most frequently used tools is the ability to use the 3-I model on the fly. Many times it's a critical element to build out the next steps in a career or biz plan. The 3-I's are Issue, Institution, Interest.


Issue: What is the Issue at hand?

Institution: Who is involved?

Interest: What is that institution's interest in the Issue?

Think about it from the perspective of renewing a contract, asking for a raise, or delivering a pitch to a client. Many times the miss comes from not acknowledging all of the potential institutions involved in a decision!
