"Living most of the time in a world created mostly in one's head, does not make for an easy passage in the real world." You may not believe the image attached to this post, but once you see it, you can't unsee it ......
The data source pictured is real world/real time payroll data from one of the most trusted compensation reporting firms in the country. This profile is of an entry level reporter in broadcast news but it could easily be others in businesses facing disruption or in decline. Four relevant points:
1. Time in position and experience literally doesn't pay (much).
2. Positions in other disciplines and companies pay 50-75% more.
3. There is a gender gap and pay equity issue.
4. This is a top 50 DMA (metro) market (#45), a real world entry point.
There is light at the end of the tunnel however and it's not about what recruiter, coach or agent you hire. The point of this post is that it's about how you differentiate and brand yourself so that you slip through a shrinking hole of opportunity.
The pay range is very wide $30k-$220k. Also, by making your skills transferable, it opens up opportunity to other higher paying industries and roles.
Be Bold. Be Great. Be Timeless.
