If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room! The view doesn't come to you, if you are going to get to someplace special in your career, you are going to have to take uncomfortable risk ......
One of the hardest things for us to do is get to comfortable being uncomfortable. Reaching peak performance never comes from sitting in our comfort zone.
Liane Davey, an expert in org performance said after interviewing medal winning Olympic athletes .... "I'm more and more convinced that the secret to high performing individuals and teams is to get comfortable being uncomfortable. Only when you move into (and through) discomfort can you reach a new level of performance."
The most important thing I can coach about taking career risks is that the more you learn to live with less material things and take control of your financial position, two things will happen:
1. More available opportunities will present themselves.
2. The impact of risks become less severe.
It also give you the opportunity to change lanes. When that left lane is blocked, you may need to slow down, move laterally or even backwards to find clean air. Your career toolbox and financial freedom make that possible.
Be Bold. Be Great. Be Timeless.
