Timing and Execution in your Career: "Hell is the truth learned too late"

There are only two elements of success; timing and your ability to act. Think about how we describe successful people. We often say that they have "an impeccable sense of timing".

I contend that "sense of timing" is really the combination of two critical success factors:

1) Ability to quickly process data or situations and make fact based decisions. It often requires a great sense of self awareness and experience. Thomas Hobbs rightfully said "Hell is the truth learned too late."

2) The willingness to act. It is Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (FUD factor) that holds us back and sometimes rightfully so.

The phrase(s) that people nearly always use to describe their greatest regrets in life starts with the words "I didn't" This sense of timing goes beyond our individual efforts.

Great leaders understand that they need to surround themselves with people that own these critical attributes. Think about successful teams in your personal and professional lives.

Whether it's sports or business, it's always best in class strategy and execution. ... and when we describe their success, we usually begin with the words "they did"
